HealthPlus 4 Men received Funding from Global Fund through CANGO to implement an HIV Prevention Program on KPs geared towards reducing new infections and attaining sustainable livelihood. The project is dedicated to achieving and maintaining HIV epidemic control. HP4M has been implementing this program under CANGO as prime and has a three-year period of performance from September 2021 to September 30, 2024.
The NF3 is an HIV Prevention program targeting Key Populations in halting the spread of new HIV infections including Female Sex Workers (FSW), Men who have sex with men (MSM) and People Who Inject Drugs (PWIDs) including other vulnerable populations such as Public Transport Operators (transport operators). This program is implemented across 14 Tinkhundla and 9 municipalities.
The Program has reached Key Populations through the HIV risk assessment, group and one on one prevention sessions on HIV, GBV, TB, COVID 19, commodities, condoms, lubricants and IEC material, referrals and linkages to health services and social protection, demand creation population specific activations, comprehensive clinical services package including but not lmited to STI screening and treatment, ART and PrEP initiation, Family Planning etc.
HealthPlus 4 Men through the HIV prevention project has ongoing campaigns across all the key population types. These campaigns aim at raising awareness and creating demand on the key measures taken to prevent new HIV infections amongst KPs in the country and also allows members to hold group discussions. During these campaigns, there are a vast number of activities that encourages KPs to initiate on HIV preventing packages including PrEP, PEP, condoms and lubricants and not limited to HIV testing, ART initiation and psycho-social support services. These activations also promote the access and uptake of clinical services amongst MSMs, FSWs, TOs, TGs, and PWIDs as well as inviting local upcoming artists to showcase and promote their various talents while dwelling on the theme of halting the spread of new HIV infections amongst KPs. The campaigns are as follows:
HealthPlus 4 Men hosts mini road shows in bus ranks across all the cities and towns in the country to promote the access and uptake of clinical services amongst transport operators. HP4M creates long term
HP4M hosted an aerobics and dance competition for the Hhohho region FSWs. The aim of the event was to promote the uptake of HIV prevention and psycho-social support services and also helping the FSWs to relax their minds and bodies and keeping with aerobics as well as keeping them entertained as they access clinical services
HealthPlus 4 men hosted a ‘Men on Heels’ event in the Shiselweni region. This activation was to promote HIV prevention and psycho-social support services amongst MSMs and also raising awareness on stigma and discrimination perpetrated towards the community.
HP4M in early May 2022, hosted a MISS Trans Diverse Eswatini event in the Hhohho region where a majority of the Transgender community had a blast and got an opportunity to win themselves different prizes for joining the pageant. This activation was a great deal in uniting the TG community as well as providing them with free clinical and psycho-social support services.
The PWIDs activation was also a success where the members had group discussions about HIV prevention and Gender-Based Violence talks and got access to clinical and psycho-social support services while together ‘badla inhloko as emajaha’.
HealthPlus 4 Men aim to champion the rights of disadvantated men including MSM, Join us in te fight against discrimination
