KPIF/EpiC GBV Project

This is a Global Key Populations Investment Fund Project Funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) which is dedicated to achieving and maintaining HIV epidemic control. The project is implemented by a consortium of 7 partners. The main objective of this project is to attain and maintain HIV epidemic control amongst Key populations and also breaking structural barriers such as Stigma and Discrimination as well as collaborating partnership with SWAGAA to strengthen GBV Case Management.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE

HealthPlus 4 Men was awarded a community Engagement Grant under the existing EpiC Project to implement supportive interventions towards breaking structural barriers such as Stigma and Discrimination as well as collaborating partnership with SWAGAA to strengthen GBV Case Management. The aim of this project is to build awareness and disseminate GBV prevention information and enhance Key population violence case management. Services provided includes; Social Behavior Change Communication, provision of non-discriminatory access to Clinical services, and provision of non-discriminatory Psychosocial Support Services and Case Management. Under this project, a campaign will be developed and implemented (Asakheni Ubuntu GBV campaign), which will consist of several activities that will aim to raise awareness on GBV issues.

ASAKHENI UBUNTU GBV CAMPAIGN

This campaign is aimed towards improving reporting and documentation of GBV cases among KPs being Men who have sex with other men (MSMs), Transgender (TGs), People who inject Drugs (PWIDs), Female sex workers (FSWs), and Transport Operators (TOs). This campaign’s main objective is building awareness and disseminating GBV prevention information through the following interventions

Social Media Campaign

The social media campaign will focus more on raising awareness on GBV matters amongst key populations. Informative posters, flyers, videos will be shared on social media platforms for educational purposes as well as encouraging key populations to report GBV cases. These social media platforms will be used as means to reach clients online with GBV information and where they can report their cases to non-discriminatory places.

Public Transport Awareness Campaign

HealthPlus 4 Men will create a partnership with local town Municipalities to deliver Gender-Based Violence awareness education. HP4M in partnership with the town Municipalities from all the regions will host mini roadshows as means of creating GBV awareness as well as encouraging the reporting of GBV cases amongst Transport Operators and also distributing GBV awareness IEC materials.

Billboard Campaign

Asakheni Ubuntu will run a billboard campaign which will be mounted at the Manzini bus rank. This activity will increase GBV awareness and promote reporting of GBV through existing channels; 951, 2022, 8500 as well as promoting the uptake of GBV case management services.
